Thibaut Rota (PhD): Functional ecology of freshwater ecosystems

I am post-doctoral researcher in the Freshwater Biodiversity and Functional Ecology Group led by Andreas Bruder at SUPSI, Ticino, Switzerland.

My research aims to improve our knowledge about how biodiversity (with a focus on intraspecific diversity) and ecosystem functions are interrelated, to help understand how communities and ecosystems can change with human-driven environmental changes (increases in temperature and drought, atmospheric heavy metal pollution). For doing so, I am mostly using trait-based approaches, in combining experiments in the lab or in nature, and meta-analysis. I am addressing these topics with a focus on forested streams and phytotelms (bromeliads and dendrotelms), organisms that live in it (particularly invertebrates), detritus-based processes they animate, and human-driven pressures they are going through.
